Organic Traffic – Myth Or Legend?

Organic traffic. For those of you who are active PPC marketers and send big checks to Google every month, those words seem like pure fantasy.

You may not realize it, but as a PPC marketer, you have a huge advantage over the rd of non-PPCers who are trying to tap into this abundant resource.

Most people will try and target terms that are either a) too darn competitive to get any exposure or rankings, or b) targeting terms that they can easily rank for, yet the keywords simply don’t convert.

This is where PPC marketers have an advantage. We know what is working!

If you build your business the right way, that is, build out actual authority sites (I recommend using wordpress) once you find a niche that is working for you, then you are setting yourself up for long term profits.

By doing this and adding content regularly, you will have actual real estate building value for you and your business. I have some sites that I have been continuously adding content to for years and even though the market has dried up PPC wise, I still bring in good money from the site organically.

Rinse and repeat.

OK now that i’ve skewed off track here, let me get back to organic traffic…

YOU have an advantage. You really do. You already know what is converting right?

If you go to the google keyword tool and type in one of those keywords that’s working for you, you’ll see there are tons of variations of that keyword… and even some long tail.

Take that long tail keyword and search google for it in quotes like this; “long tail keyword” and you’ll see how many people are competing for placement.

If it’s less than 100, there is a STRONG chance you can get something indexed in the top positions VERY easy.

Write a small article (lens) and post it to Squidoo.com making the title, that long tail keyword. Place a link to a relavent landing page on your website strategically in the lens (I recommend a very targeted landing page, one that is working in PPC for you).

Make sure this article is good. Don’t hire crappy writers, or throw up a PLR article. Make sure it’s unique, GOOD content.

Next bookmark the lens and landing page on Digg.com and Stumbleupon making the keyword the title again.

Also, bookmark another non-related article so you don’t look like a greedy marketer…

What will happen? You should own 2 spots on the first page… AND if you ad that long tail version to your campaign (which you should) you’ll have your adwords listing there too.

I’ve made massive amounts of money from this small simple technique that you may already know about. If you do and you haven’t tried this, you really need to.

That click or two a day may not mean much short term, but let me tell you, if you make this a ritual, whether it be from outsourced help, yourself, or heck, maybe even a relative looking for a few extra bucks, it will pay off big time in the long haul.

There are obviously tons more things I do on the social front, but this was just a down and dirty example of how powerful organic traffic can be, and how easy it really is to get!

Think long term in your business. Do things today that will have long term benefits.

Hope this helps! Until next time…

Great article Peter. I haven’t used this technique in as targeted a fashion as you describe. So I’ll add this to the quiver and go with it. Many thanks.
